私は、埼玉県さいたま市の工務店に勤める、46歳の男性です。
工業高校卒業後、そのまま今の工務店に入社しました。
工業高校卒業後から今の工務店に勤めているので、勤続約28年になります。
ちなみに、工務店の社員は少人数制で、ほとんど辞める人がいません。
ほとんど辞める人がいないから、ほとんど入社する人もいません（笑）
だいたい、5年に1人くらい入社するといった感じでしょうか。
このように、私の勤める工務店は、社員の入れ替わりが少ないのです。
そのため、私は勤続約28年ですが、ベテランという位置づけではありません。
とは言え、28年も勤めていれば、だいたいの仕事は覚えます。

最近は、工事現場用の部品を作ることが多いですね。
工事現場用の部品を作り、それを取引会社に発注するのが、ここ数年のメイン業務。
工務店の社員は少人数ですので、業務を分けることはありません。
そのため、私自身、部品を作ることもあれば、発注業務をすることもあるのです。
とにかく勤めてから28年間、仕事内容は基本的には似ています。
そのため、良くも悪くも、仕事に慣れてしまいます。
やはり、仕事に慣れると、ときに油断してしまうことがあるのです。
今回のトラブルは、そんな「仕事に慣れて油断したこと」が原因だと思います。
おそらく、ボーッと仕事をしたから、今回のトラブルは起きたのでしょう。
集中さえできていれば、今回のトラブルは起きなかったはずです。

今回のトラブルの発端は、現場作業員からの1本の電話です。
とある平日の昼頃、現場作業員が、怒り口調で電話をしてきました。
そして、現場作業員は、「部品が足りない」と電話で言うのです。
私は「部品が足りない」と言われたとき、状況が理解できませんでした。
勤続約28年ですが、「部品が足りない」とクレームを受けたことはありません。

現場作業員からの電話を保留にして、納品書を確かめてみると・・・
送るはずの部品が、届けられていないことに気づきました。
それどころか、送るはずの部品は、製造すら済んでいません。
このような失態は初めてで、まさに身の毛がよだつような気持ちでしたね。
その後、恐れるように、電話の保留を解除して・・・
「納品予定の部品が、製造すらできていないこと」を正直に伝えました。
そして、「できる限り早く製造して、できる限り早く届けること」も伝えました。
現場作業員は、「わかりました」と棒読みした後、電話を切りましたね。
おそらく、怒りを通り越して呆れたからこそ、棒読みになったのでしょう。
「部品が足りない」ということは、工事が遅れるかもしれないということです。
仮に、工事が遅れたら、多くの人に迷惑が掛かるでしょう。
そのため、私を含む工務店の社員総出で、その部品を作ることになりました。
正直、その部品が、いつ完成するかは、わかりません。
ただ、その日は一生懸命に部品を作り、気づけば退社時間になっていました。
しかし、退社時間になっても、まだ部品は完成しません。
その日は残業になりましたが、誰も異論を唱えませんでした。
結果的に、その日の20時頃に、部品が完成しました。
今度は、その部品を、届けなければいけません。
ただ、道の混雑状況などがわからないため、何時に届けられるかわからないのです。

そのとき、ふとバイク便の存在を思い出します。
私が勤める工務店は、部品を届けるときなどに、バイク便を利用することがあります。
そのため、「バイク便なら混雑状況などがわかるかも」と思い、

すると、バイク便のスタッフは、「一般車よりバイクで行ったほうが早い」と言います。
とにかく早く部品を届けたかった私は、バイク便に部品を届けてもらうことにしました。
すぐに集荷に来てくれたので、とても助かりましたね。
そして、迅速に手続きを済ませてもらい、現場まで届けてもらいました。
ちなみに、現場は横浜市にあります。
つまり、さいたま市から横浜市まで、届けてもらうわけですね。
埼玉の地元のバイク便を利用したことで、問題なくいちはやく届いたそうです。
また、翌日に別会社にリレーすることになっていたそうですが・・・
問題なく行えたようです。

結果的に、部品が当日中に届いたため、工事が遅延することはありませんでした。
また、次の日に取引相手から電話があり・・・
「迅速な対応ありがとうございます。誰にでも失敗はありますよ」と言ってもらいました。
また、「これからも良き仕事のパートナーでありましょう」とも言ってもらえました。
部品を当日中に届けられなかったら、工事は遅延したかもしれません。
そして、工事が遅延したら、取引相手からの信頼を失うことになったでしょう。
そのため、少しでも早く届けるために、埼玉のバイク便を利用してよかったと思います。
信頼を失くして、発注が減ってしまったら、経営が傾くかもしれませんからね。
今回は、仕事の慣れが油断につながって、トラブルを招いてしまいました。
今後は、慣れている仕事であっても、初心を忘れずに、真剣に取り組みたいと思います。
